In this article, we’ll tell you How to Change Gmail Signature to one of the best and stuffed with functional mail services Gmail (o_O – yes, because it’s not so simple).
So, first we will analyze what methods we will use:
- Create a signature in Google Doc and paste as a signature in Gmail
- We use a third-party service (Wisestamp)
1. How to make a Gmail signature in Google Doc
The next step is to create a table in which we will place the contents of our signature. Why create a table? The fact is that email clients, as well as browsers, process information in a table form. This means that if we do not create a table and simply place the data under each other, our signature will not be structured, but distributed across the page, that is, instead of the signature, the output will be a vinaigrette, where the mailer will decide which words to transfer, what pictures where to insert. No thanks, we will do it all ourselves! So – create a table.

In order for the signature to reflect your business, hobbies, marketing offer – you need to think through its structure. For instance:
- First, naturally, I want my name to be
- Then let’s put the post
- Then, logically, we’ll put the company name
- To add personality – put a banner with a logo
- Well, phones will go here
- And here the email and site address will settle
- Well, in the 21st century we live, sort of, so there will be icons and links to social networks
- And in the end, for seriousness, add a privacy notice

Total we got 8 rows of the table. But before you roll up your sleeves and start sculpting, let’s think about how we can structure the data inside these eight lines. For example, in paragraph 7, we plan to indicate links to social networks in the form of icons. Take the most popular in our latitudes, there are four of them: Vkontakte, Facebook, Google+ and Twitter. Accordingly, we need to break the seventh row into four columns. There is no such functionality in Google Docs, that’s why we create four columns and eight rows at once. To do this, go to the menu Insert – Table – 4×8
As you may have noticed, I adjusted the width of the last cell in order to make the image larger. Alignment is always left-aligned.

The signature is almost ready and now it remains to do some more simple manipulations. Firstly – we do not want to see the table borders in the signature – at least not aesthetically pleasing. Secondly – I do not like that there are such huge indents between cells. We fix it this way: select the entire table, right-click and select Table Properties . In the table properties in the section Table border, select a thickness of 0 pt . By the next step, on the right, look for the Minimum cell height and set the value to 0.5 , and at the same time in the Cell Fields itemset the value to 0.09 . That’s all – click OK and “with a slight movement, the pants turn …” .
It is assumed that you have Gmail open and you know how to enter the settings (gear in the upper right corner). In the Settings – General settings page that opens, look for the Signature section . In the empty signature field (if it isn’t empty, just delete the old signature), insert (also use the right mouse button to insert the menu item Insert , or by pressing Ctrl + V) the just created signature and save the changes to the settings.
If you did everything as described above – when creating a new letter and when replying to letters – the Gmail signature created in Google Doc will be automatically substituted. Magic!
Let’s try to send yourself an email.
If everything is in order and everyone likes it, the lesson is over. If you want to try something else – add pictures, change fonts, play with the layout (or try one of the following options).
By the same principle, you can create several signatures for different mail accounts in your Gmail account.
2. How to make a Gmail signature using Wisestamp
On the left side of the screen you will find the SIGNATURE DETAILS item – here is the basic information about you and the company that you represent. Immediately below it is the item YOUR PICTURE OR LOGO. Here you can insert a photo, or logo. In the same place, using the Image shape item : you can select the style for displaying a photo or logo according to the figures shown. Since Wisestamp provides limited functionality for free – you don’t have to choose especially – only what is in the Basic category , but for many it will be enough.
Further, you can configure links to social profiles in the SOCIAL PROFILES section . It is important to correctly indicate the link to the profile or group / page, otherwise the links will not be working. Fortunately, what types of links should be indicated.
Wisestamp has an interesting feature – these are gadgets. Such small additions to the signature with a bunch of all sorts of necessary and not very chips. For example: the latest tweets, youtube videos, all sorts of banners and promotions of your services and products. All this can be configured in the EXTRAS item (select All from the drop-down menuand all available gadgets will be displayed immediately)
Any change you make to the signature is immediately displayed in the change viewer.
