How to Delete All Photos From iCloud As you probably know, iCloud offers 5 GB of free storage for each user. Although this may seem like a lot at first, it might not actually be enough to store all your photos.
You can buy more iCloud storage above 5GB that comes free with iCloud, so as an alternative to photo deletion you can upgrade your iCloud service level:
- 50GB: $ 0.99 / month
- 200GB: $ 2.99 / month
- 2TB: $ 9.99 / month
Unlike Google Photos, iCloud stores photos in the highest quality, full-size version that can quickly consume the initial 5 GB of free space that comes with iCloud.
People who like to take a lot of selfies and photos of their pets on a daily basis will see the message ‘Storage full of iCloud‘ after no more than a few months at best.
Apple gives you the opportunity to buy more storage. Although it is not expensive, many people choose not to, simply because they do not feel they should pay for it.
If you’re among them and don’t want to spend money for more iCloud storage, there’s really no other way to free up space than to delete photos and videos from your iCloud.
There are few ways to delete photos from iCloud, so let’s take a look, starting with the iPhone and then with the Mac.
If you have a Mac, it is much more efficient to delete photos from the Photo application on your Mac than on your iPhone, so if you have a Mac or Macbook, use it for this task instead of your iPhone.

Delete iCloud photos from your iPhone
If you want to delete photos from your iCloud, the easiest way to do it is to simply delete them from the Photos library on your iPhone. We show you how to do it on your iPhone:
- Go to the Photos app and tap on the Photos option in the lower left corner, which will show you all your photos, from the most recent at the bottom to the oldest photos at the top.
- Click the Select button that will float to the top right of your screen. You may want to start with your oldest photos by scrolling to the top of the screen by tapping once at the top.
- In the upper right corner, tap Select
- Once you’ve tapped Select , you can tap to select the photos you want to delete, and then tap the trash can icon in the lower right corner to delete the photos.
- Tap the trash icon in the lower right corner of your screen and confirm the deletion.
Please note that this does not delete photos forever. Instead, it only transfers them to the recently deleted album .
To completely delete all photos, follow these steps:
- Tap Albums , which is the second tab to the right of photos on your iPhone.
- Scroll down until you find recently deleted photos
- Touch Select, which will select all recently deleted photos.
- Finally, tap “Delete all” to complete deletion of photos.
Now your photos are completely gone. If you do not follow this step, you will not save disk space until Photos automatically completes the removal of “recently deleted” items.
If you’re looking to quickly delete your photos from iCloud without having to manually touch each one, this is one of the best ways. If you are using a Mac, there is an even easier one.
Delete photos from iCloud on a Mac
On a Mac, you can delete iCloud photos from all connected devices in minutes. This is by far the easiest way to do it, as it allows you to take advantage of the Apple ecosystem. To do this, follow the next steps:
- Open the Photos app on your Mac.
- Touch the Photos option in the left pane.
- Press Command + A or go to Edit and then select All.
- Press Command + Delete on your keyboard to delete all the selected photos.
Note: This is an efficient way to delete ALL of your photos or you can simply select photos one by one to delete them in bulk.
Similar to deleting photos from your iPhone, this only moves them to the Recently Deleted folder . You can find the folder on the left side of your screen, inside the sidebar, and delete the photos from there by following the same steps. From your Mac’s photo app, just click Recently Deleted and then click Delete All in the upper right corner of the screen.
Unfortunately, PC users cannot do this. Although you can access your iCloud photos through your web browser, there is no way to select multiple photos at once. You must manually select each one that you want to remove, which is quite inconvenient.
However, there are some third-party programs that you can use. Of course, you must be very careful when looking for the right one. Failure to do so can lead to data loss and serious privacy violations.
If you don’t know how to find a good third-party solution, search online to read about the experiences other users have had with it. If this seems like too much trouble, you may want to keep using your iPhone when deleting photos.
